Ford’s E-Bike packs a smartphone for better user-bike connection

How do you get a bicycle to get smarter? Well, simply hook on a smartphone to it and have the bike and the phone lock up in a symbiotic relationship! At least that’s what Ford thought of while hooking on a Samsung Galaxy S II to its shiny new E-Bike. A concept for now, the bike is a unisex mode to transport, made for both the genders and includes some pretty striking designing techniques including a well hidden motor and battery pack. With the motor packed in the front axle and the battery stowed away in the body frame, the bike looks like a regular pedal-pusher to the onlooker, given that it also sports a pair of pedals for manual modes. Going up to speeds of 25 kilometers/hour with an 85 kilometer range on a single charge, the E-Bike weighs in at 2.5kgs and uses the smartphone as an interface between the rider and the bike!

Moses Basket, the foldable and portable baby hammock

Planning to put your child to sleep in a biblical fashion? Well, this baby hammock seems to be the perfect way to do so, and like hell it sports a biblical name too! Called the Moses Basket, this baby hammock is foldable and portable and can be quickly deployed just about anywhere. Small enough to fit into the back-seat of your car, the hammock does well in the outdoors too, working as a make-shift sleeping place for your baby, while you enjoy an outdoor picnic with the rest of your kin. And from the looks of it, once deployed, this baby hammock seems to be a pretty cozy place to tuck in for an afternoon nap!

BMW unveils Motorrad electroscooter concept

Scooters have never looked cooler before. Mostly associated with delivery boys, these little modes of transport aren’t really meant to look mean and ferocious. Most automakers leave that to sports bikes and hogs! The BMW Motorrad Concept scooter however chooses to stay different, and is meant for just one, without a passenger seat. Packing high-performance and efficient 2-cylinder combustion engines, these electroscooters function as scooters, with the riding-feel of motorcycles.

Tron Light Cycle

Remember those little scooters the most of us have ridden on in our childhoods? Well, here’s a scooter for your toddler, that’s sure to have both adults and kids alike, staring with wide-eyed-wonder! This one requires toddlers to push forward with their feet and was presented by Trek designer Ryan Callahan at last week’s TrekWorld 2012. Called the Tron Light Cycle, this one’s just a fun concept, though we’re pretty sure it’d have the spotlight if it ever did wind up in toystores. And yes, we can’t help hoping for a bike like this to show up for adults, with an electric engine hopefully

Paris airport uses holographic boarding agents

The next time you board a flight from Paris, you’re bound to be left pleasantly surprised, with the way you’re greeted while boarding! Instead of having real people do the job of a boarding agent, the airport chose to use Holographic Virtual Boarding Agents instead. The system uses a 2D hologram that greets boarders with the message “Bonjour! I invite you to go to your boarding gate. Paris Airports wishes you a bon voyage,” while your destination name flashes across. Also, Paris isn’t the only city turning to virtual boarding agents, with Manchester and London planning for the same at airports there!
